A Report On Simulated C-E Simultaneous Interpretation Of The Lacsoce New Product Livestreaming Conference

The material selected for this report is the global live broadcast conference of the new product 2020 of Guangzhou Poa Biotechnology Co.The purpose of this report is to illustrate the difficulties of interpreting Chinese run-on sentences and the strategies to cope with them.This material is in the genre of speech.There are a large number of run-on sentences featuring information redundancy,loose language structure,subjectfree sentences.In this process,performance deterioration involving omission,errors,and information loss caused by Chinese run-on sentences became the largest problem.With the interpretation of the global live launch as the example,this paper,starting from the major difficulties of information redundancy,sentences with unclear logic,and sentences with no subject,aims to address the challenges in interpreting run-on sentences and offer pertinent strategies.In the simulated Chinese-English simultaneous interpretation,the author found that redundant expressions,unclear logical relationship between sentences due to loose sentence structure and rushed language processing made it more challenging for the interpreter to understand,re-express the information in another language in a short time.For the above difficulties in interpretation caused by the characteristics of run-on sentences,the author took the Interpretive Theory as a guidance and proposed that when interpreting.The interpreter should not focus on the transportation of linguistic symbols,but convey the communicative meaning carried by these linguistic symbols,and the interpreter should understand the source text,not be restricted by the structure of the source text and finally convey it in accordance with the expression habits of the target language.Accordingly,the author put forward six coping tactics for interpreting Chinese run-on sentences: 1)omission and generalization for information redundancy to avoid the repetition of information;2)addition and restructuring for sentences with unclear logic to ensure of the interpreted text being authentic;3)supplementing and transferring into passive voice for sentences with no subject to make the English structure complete with correct subject.This report is a study on difficulties in interpreting run-on sentences in skin care product launch and the strategies to deal with them.Under the guidance of the Interpretive Theory,the author reflected deeply on the difficulties in simultaneous interpreting and proposed corresponding coping tactics,which might provide guidance and reference to the simultaneous interpreting of Chinese run-on sentences for other interpreters.
