The Integration between the Communist Party of China and Traditional Chinese Politics is a video lecture released by Guan Media, and this simulated Chinese-English simultaneous interpretation task is based on the main part of this video lecture. In this lecture, the speaker spoke at a fast pace and the information in this lecture is relatively dense, all of which raised the effort requirements on the interpreter in each session, leading to saturation of the interpreter’s effort and affecting the quality of the interpreter’s output. The author summarized the factors that affected the interpreter’s output and took advantage of corresponding interpretation theories to help the interpreter solve the problems and complete this report. The main difficulty in this simulated simultaneous interpretation is the high-density information in source speech, which can be divided into three categories:(1)how to output as much cultural information as possible in a short time when the high-density information in the source speech is caused by classical Chinese quotes;(2)how to ensure the information is not missed as much as possible when the high-density information in the source speech is caused by enumeration;(3)how to ensure the complete output of information when the high-density information in the source speech is caused by long attributives. To solve the above problems, the author proposes coping tactics with the help of Daniel Gile’s Effort Model. In order to solve the high-density information caused by classical Chinese quotes, the author proposes omission and generalization. As for the high-density information caused by enumeration, the author proposes anticipation and summarization. The author also proposes syntactic linearity and anticipation to solve the problems caused by long attributives.By analyzing the three causes of the high-density information in source speech and proposing coping tactics to address them, this report aims to serve as a reference for the study of coping tactics for materials with high-density information. |
