This translation practice report is based on the post-editing of three chapters of Handbook of Research on STEM Education, which concern the hot topics in STEM(Science,Technology,Engineering, and Math)research. As an academic book,it is rich in specialized terminology and vocabulary, and has informative and logically rigorous characteristics as well, thus facilitating the summarization process.Guided by Skopos theory, the translation practice adopts CAT+MT+PE mode using SDL Trados 2019 software for computer-aided translation. The whole process involves pretranslating,while-translating and post-editing.During the analyzing stage, the author encountered the following problems: Firstly, error would occur in MT of citations and punctuation.Secondly,at the lexical level,MT would lead to translation problems like mistranslation, omission, semantic repetition, etc.Thirdly,at the syntactic level,MT would struggle with the issues of passive voice, word order, etc.Fourthly,at the discourse level,MT would cause problems of incoordination and misrepresentation. In such cases, the author adopted different translation methods and editing strategies(i.e.,literal translation, liberal translation, amplification, and etc.)to make the quality of post-edited texts comparable to that of the manual translation.Through the translation practice and the writing of this report, the author has deepened the understanding of academic texts, developed the skills of CAT software operation, and gained research-based insights into the post-editing strategy of academic texts. It is hoped this report may provide references for the translation of texts of the similar type.
