A Report Of English-Chinese Translation Of Maritime Archaeology In Communicative Translation

Nowadays,the development of Marine archaeology is rapid,and translation plays an important role in learning and drawing lessons from the advanced experience of Marine archaeology abroad.The translation text is taken from chapter 9 and chapter 14 of the book Maritime Archaeology.The translation text bears the characteristics of marine science and technology text,which has strong logic;rigorous structure and real content.The communicative translation theory proposed by Newmark plays a guiding role in the Chinese translation practice of selected text.Communicative translation theory proposes that people have the right to modify logic;use functional syntactic structures to disambiguate and standardize language.In order to improve the readability of the text,the information content of the text should be highlighted in accordance with the authenticity as the core of the informational text.In order to make the target language readers get almost the same reading effect as the source language readers;communicative translation theory emphasizes that translators should try to present natural,smooth and clear translation on the premise of full fidelity to the original text.Thereby,this report mainly analyzes examples from the lexical and sentence levels,which is guided by Newmark’s communicative translation theory.Firstly,at the lexical level,techniques such as translation enhancement adaptation,modifier position adaptation and word class conversion adaptation are used to master the structure of words,sentences and grammar,and coordinate the different language types such as hypotaxis and parataxis.Secondly,at the syntactic level,techniques such as morphological conversion adaptation,order change adaptation and sub-translation adaptation are used to deal with the more complicated syntax in the original text and balance the differences in background and characteristics between the source language culture and the target language culture.Finally,it is hoped that this report can serve as a reference for related studies and provide some references for scholars in the future.
