Trauma is a part of our lives. It should not be a source of shame. In the rapidly developing modern society, many people have a traumatic memory that they don’t want to face, which may be due to divorce, unemployment, painful childhood experiences or feelings. If this traumatic memory is not processed,it will have more serious effects, such as anxiety, depression or even post-traumatic stress disorder.EMDR is considered to be a very effective psychotherapy for processing posttraumatic stress disorder(PTSD).It is widely used in counseling PTSD abroad, which can help visitors effectively reduce the degree of psychological trauma and rebuild their hope and confidence. The translator selected the fourth chapter of Every Memory Deserves Respect,EMDR,the Proven Trauma Therapy with the Power to Heal written by Michael Baldwin and Deborah Korn, for English-Chinese translation practice, and completed the translation report. The book mainly introduces how trauma affects people’s lives in all aspects and how to treat trauma with EMDR therapy. The fourth chapter mainly introduces the basic concept and eight treatment stages of EMDR therapy based on cases. The translator believes that the translation of this text can provide a reference for the development of trauma psychotherapy in China. The translation practice report consists of four chapters: the first chapter describes the translation task, including the background and significance of the translation task. The second chapter is the translation process, including preparation for translation, problem solving in translation and post translation proofreading. In the third chapter, the translator selected some cases to analyze them from the lexical and syntactic levels. In the case analysis, the translator used the corresponding translation methods, such as free-translation,zero-translation,conversion of voice and so on.The fourth chapter is the conclusion of the translation report. The translator has gained a lot from translation practice.Firstly, the translator has mastered the basic process of translation.Secondly, the translator has learned some translation methods and can skillfully apply them to translation practice. Finally, the translator has realized that her own ability was still limited, and that the analysis of some translation examples was not good enough. In the future, the translator should strengthen practice and strive to improve her bilingual level and translation analysis ability.
