This translation practice report is based on the seventh chapter of Human Ecology Economics-A New Framework for Global Sustainability written by Professor Roy E.Allen.The chosen chapter, which discusses the role that economists can play in developing climate policies,is featured with rigorous language,well-knit structure and occasional vivid expressions.Considering these features, the author chooses Reiss’ s text typology to explore the translation principles and strategies of informative texts.Based on linguistic functions and communicative situations,Reiss divides texts into different types.Among them, informative texts are content-focused,emphasizing effective communication and accuracy of information. Therefore, with the theory as guidance, the author summarizes four translation principles, namely accuracy, integrity, logicality, and readability. At the same time, specific translation strategies are also explored under these principles.Based on discussion and analysis, this study finds that Reiss’ s text typology can offer help for translators to identify text types and select translation strategies. In specific,to achieve accuracy, the standardization of terms and the contextual factors might be considered;to achieve integrity, bridging the cultural and knowledge gap is a good way;to improve logicality,it is better to show the implicit logic and retain the original structure;to enhance readability,it is advisable to adjust information structure and improve expressions. After this practice, the author summarizes gains and reflections to provide reference for the future translation.
