A Report On The E-C Translation Of The Excerpt Of Unmanned Systems Integrated Roadmap FY2011-2036

Machine translation is an important means to improve the efficiency of translation.The quality and post-editing of machine translation results have always been one of the focuses of scholars and researchers.Based on the evaluation criteria of machine translation evaluation criteria,this practice report makes a comparison between the machine translation and human translation of adverbial clauses in the excerpts of Unmanned Systems Integrated Roadmap FY2011-2036.The results indicates that the two are different in terms of fidelity,comprehensibility and recognizability of textual category to different extents.In terms of fidelity,the problems of machine translation are reflected in improper word meaning,missing structure,and incorrect sentence meaning,which can be solved by selecting and modifying word meanings based on context,supplementing information,and correcting logical error;In terms of comprehensibility,the problems of machine translation lie in improper translation of conjunction and disordered word sequence,which can be solved through the modification,omission and addition of conjunction,as well as the selection of translation methods among linear translation,inverse translation and reconstruction;In terms of the recognizability of textual category,machine translation are insufficient in objectivity,professionalism,and conciseness,which can be improved by reducing the use of personal references covering a group of people,using nominalized forms,and simplifying expressions.In view of this,during the process of post-editing,the machine translation of adverbial clauses can be modified from the textual,referential,cohesive and natural levels,so as to ensure the translation efficiency and improve the quality of the machine translation of adverbial clauses in EST translation.
