Machine Translation And Post-editing

With the development of economic globalization in recent years,intercultural communication has become more and more frequent,and the demand for translation has also increased.Advances in science and technology have made the machine translation grow fast.The emergence of machine translation(MT)has led to dramatic changes in translation work,and it has also changed people's translation habits and behaviors.As a novel translator,the author found that various MT systems have indeed improved translation efficiency,and even performed very well in the translation of some texts.But there are also many obvious problems and limitations in MT.The quality of MT leaves much to be desired.To improve the quality of MT,post-editing(PE)has become a popular practice.Clinical Sports Medicine is a comprehensive guidebook to sports and exercise medicine.It has a large number of medical terms and sports terms,which could be mostly translated by MT.Taking the translation of this book as an example,this paper discusses the “MT + PE” mode in medical text translation and analyzes the advantages and disadvantages in MT through specific cases of translation.In view of the limitations,the author summarizes and analyzes the corresponding post-editing methods,hoping to provide a feedback for future MT + PE models of similar projects.
