Against the background of globalization,scientific,technological and military exchanges between countries are increasingly frequent.The increasing necessity of English to Chinese translation of texts put forward higher requirements for translators’ translation proficiency.Therefore,this translation report selected examples from A Blue Arctic—A Strategic Blueprint for the Arctic and Autonomous Undersea Vehicle Requirement for 2025,which mainly introduce the strategic deployment and security interests of the U.S.military in the Arctic region,as well as the number and operational applications of different types of underwater vehicles in 2025.These two materials have rigorous language structures,distinctive military characteristics and many passive sentences with strong professionalism.From the perspective of language differences between English and Chinese,taking stative vs.dynamic and passive vs.active as the starting point,the translation techniques of military scientific and technical texts have been studied and the class shift and passive sentence translation techniques have been explored through the translation examples from English to Chinese in this report.In the process of translation,the author uses a variety of tools and finds a lot of relevant materials to ensure the accuracy of translation,so that the translation conforms to the idiomatic Chinese and is easy for readers to understand.This translation practice report shows that translation should conform to the expression habits of the target language,and the translator should constantly improve his translation ability. |
