In recent years,more and more researchers pay attention to the study of career calling.As a vital positive attitude,career calling shows the beliefs and values of individual.Studies show that career calling has a positive impact on working attitude and behavior.At present,the national policy and new era put much emphasis on it.When it comes to strengthening the construction of teaching staff which is of great significance for promoting the development of education,the importance of career calling has been emphasized.Teachers’ career calling is closely related to the development of education and teachers themselves,and plays an important role in fostering virtue through education.So it is necessary to attach importance to the study of teachers’ career calling to find out its current situation and influencing factors so that some improving suggestion can be put forward.Therefore,this research studies senior high school English teachers’ career calling,aimed at answering the following three questions:1.What is the level of senior high school English teachers’ career calling under the background of fostering virtue through education in the new era in Nanning?2.What’s the relationship between senior high school English teachers’ career calling and demographic variables?3.What are the factors affecting senior high school English teachers’ career calling?To analyze and explore the problems,questionnaire survey and interview were adopted in this research,and a questionnaire survey was conducted with the Scale of Teacher’s Vocational Calling among 114 high school English teachers from six senior high schools in Nanning,Guangxi,including the author’s practice school,with the differences of their career calling compared from gender,marriage,age,school types,teaching experiences,professional tittles,majors and politics status.Besides,5 teachers of the practice school were interviewed.The results of this research are concluded as follow:1.In the research,the level of senior high school English teachers’ career calling is high in general under the background of fostering virtue through education in the new era.Among the four dimensions,the dimension of execution of duty is in the highest level and career persistence is in the lowest.2.There are significant differences in senior high school English teachers’ career calling in gender,marriage,age,teaching experiences and professional tittles.However,there are no significant differences in school types,majors and politics status.3.The main factors that influence the career calling of senior high school English teachers are teachers’ values,career goals and social environment.Finally,according to the results of the survey and the influencing factors which affect senior high school English teachers’ career calling under the background of fostering virtue through education in the new era,some suggestions are put forward,hoping to give some practical advice to strengthen senior high school English teachers’ career calling,which is of great value in the development of senior high school English teachers and the implementation of fostering virtue through education.
