| In geography, the countryside refers to the various forms of human settlements in rural areas(ie,villages or rural settlements). The countryside is generally pleasant scenery, fresh air, more suitable for people to live, simple folk customs. In the ’ etymology ’,the countryside is interpreted as a place mainly engaged in agriculture and with a more dispersed population distribution than towns. The city generally refers to the area where the population is concentrated, the industry and commerce are developed, and the residents are mainly non-agricultural population. It is usually the political, economic and cultural center of the surrounding area.Geographically, different environments and different functions of cities and villages are distinguished, and literature gives them different symbolic meanings. In Raymond Williams ’s " Country and City," the difference between country and city is discussed in this way : ’ For the country, people have formed the concept that it is a natural way of life : quiet, pure, pure virtue. For cities, people think that is the center of achievement : intelligence, communication, knowledge.Strong negative associations also arise : when talking about the city,it is considered to be a noisy, vulgar and ambitious place;speaking of the countryside,it is considered that it is backward, ignorant and restricted everywhere. From this point of view, the " city " and " village " in literature have been artificially divided into different levels.Under the impact of the wave of globalization,China ’s rural areas are undergoing a rapid transformation from " rurality " to " modernity." Traditional villages are facing the fate of deconstruction and reconstruction, and the writing of urban-rural relations has also undergone new development. As a writer who is rooted in ’ Fangcun ’ and living in the city,Fu Xiuying ’s works are inseparable from the ’ Fangcun ’ that she misses, and she does not ignore the life experience in the city.In Fu Xiuying ’s works, the countryside is no longer only characterized by poverty and backwardness in the writing of new local novels. For farmers, the countryside is no longer a fetter to break free, nor is it a place to escape. The city is no longer a place of superiority.Through her works,we can deeply feel that the traditional cultural form and structure of the countryside accept the erosion of modern civilization represented by urban civilization. The traditional countryside slowly changes and gradually changes to the way of urban survival.Although the heterogeneity between urban and rural areas still exists, the relationship between tradition and modernity, urban and rural areas is not a simple opposition. This thesis is divided into five parts. The introduction chapter mainly introduces the research status of Fu Xiuying ’s works, discusses the significance and value of this thesis, and explains the research significance and research methods of this thesis. The first chapter of the text is based on ’ Fangcun ’ and explores the new ’ Fangcun ’ written by the writer Fu Xiuying. The first section starts with the changes of Fangcun people in their daily life and feels the new’ Fangcun ’ full of modernization. The second section discusses the change of Fangcun people ’s ideological concept. The impact of modern civilization makes the fine traditional virtues decline. The second chapter shifts the research perspective to the city, analyzes the description of urban life in Fu Xiuying ’s works, and writes about Fangcun people ’s way into the city. The first section analyzes why Fangcun people entered the city from the perspective of subjective and objective reasons. The second section explores Fangcun people ’s new understanding of urban life. The third chapter mainly describes the collision and mutual tolerance between urban and rural areas. The first section mainly explores the differences between urban and rural areas.Through comparative description,Fu Xiuying shows the differences caused by different customs and ways of doing things between urban and rural areas. The second section mainly discusses the issue of the right to speak of farmers in the city.To explore whether the countryside has gained its own right to speak in the city and how people from the countryside have changed their identity in Fu Xiuying ’s works. The fourth chapter re-examines the relationship between urban and rural areas.Through the analysis of the contents of the previous chapters,we think about whether Fu Xiuying ’s local novels show a new urban-rural relationship and what the new urban-rural relationship is.The first section mainly discusses the breakthrough of urban-rural relations in Fu Xiuying ’s works. There are still many problems that hinder rural development in his works. The author takes what aspects as the starting point to show the driving force of rural development. The second section discusses the new changes in rural writing under the existing situation. |
