| As is well known,water is an indispensable element for life.However,in recent years,with the development of society,the amount of urban sewage discharge has been increasing,making the purification of urban sewage a major challenge for social development.This translation practice report,guided by the functional equivalence theory,translated two academic papers on water environmental protection,and discussed the translation difficulties encountered in terms of terminology,long sentences,and discourse,as well as the translation strategies and methods used to solve these difficulties.At the same time,this article conducted a case analysis of the translation problems that occurred in the translation practice under the guidance of functional equivalence theory.Given that this type of text belongs to sci-tech texts,which have many professional terms and formal language,with complex nominal structures and logical and tight structures,the author used Nida’s functional equivalence theory to accurately and normatively translate this type of text from the lexical,syntactic,and discourse levels.Through this translation practice,the translator recognized the importance of the source text in the translation process,mastered the proofreading methods for this type of text,used functional equivalence theory to solve terminology,long sentence comprehension,and deep logic exploration problems in the text,and also pointed out the shortcomings in this translation practice.This translation practice,guided by the functional equivalence theory,strives to provide readers with professional and fluent translations,and also provides translation experience for sci-tech texts.We hope that this translation practice report can provide experience and reference for translators who are engaged in this type of text. |
