Study On Liao Changyong’s Performance Of Chinese Art Songs

Chinese art song is a bright pearl in China’s long history,which is of great significance in the development of Chinese vocality.Liao Changyong,a famous baritone singer in contemporary China,who has his own uniqueness in the singing of Chinese art songs.He integrates the technology of bel canto into his singing,which has formed his own unique singing style.In the meanwhile,he has also made significant contributions in promoting Chinese art songs.However,at present,it lacks of comprehensive study on Chinese art song singing and the baritone singer,Liao Changyong,and lacks of comparison,analysis,and summary of Liao Changyong’s singing of different styles of Chinese art songs as well.In this paper,Liao Changyong’s singing of Chinese art songs is taken as the theme,with the example of his works,"Homesick" and "Longing for Beloved in Spring",to study the characteristics of Liao Changyong’s singing of Chinese art songs through his singing techniques,enunciation,emotional processing etc.Moreover,in combination of his personal factor and the age factor,the reasons which have formed Liao Changyong’s singing characteristics of Chinese art songs are analyzed,and then Liao Changyong’s vocal philosophy and achievements in singing Chinese art songs are summarized.The whole paper is divided into three parts.Part I is to understand Liao Changyong’s life and his artistic achievements.Part Ⅱ is to study Liao Changyong’s overall singing characteristics,including the formation factors of his singing style,which is going to provide theoretical support for the study of Chinese art songs singing style characteristics.Part Ⅲ is the main content of this paper.with the examples of "Homesick" and "Longing for Beloved in Spring",to analyze Liao Changyong’s vocal methods,enunciation,and emotional expression in singing Chinese art songs,and then his singing characteristics is summarized even further.
