The Study On Liao Changyong’s Singing Style

Because of the first prize in the “41st French Intornational Toulousc SingingCompctition”,“Placido Domingo Opera Competition the World” and “Queen SongjaIntcrnational Music Competition”, nowadays Liao Changyong is regarded as the “Best AsianBarytone”. Due to these three top prizes, the musical world is shocked by his talents in thisfield. The experts of musical world acclaims that his success cannot be duplicated in thewhole Asia. In2007, Liao Changyong tries a breakthrough musical method in his new record,which is called “Interpretation of Love”. He applies bel canto into the popular songs andethnic music and these achievements are the important breakthrough in the field of bel canto.Such achievements win noteworthy influence in the musical world.This thesis analyzes three aspects of Liao Changyong’s styles of performing Chinesesongs.The first chapter focuses on Liao Changyong’s family background, educationalbackground, his serious attitudes in analyzing songs and individual achievements. It givesobjective analysis on the Liao Changyong before he wins the fame in order to get furtherinformation of him. From these analyses, we will deepen our understandings towards hisachievements.The second chapter categorizes the different styles of Chinese songs performed by LiaoChangyong. From the method of singing, transition of registers and the integration of tone, Imake an analysis on his singing methods with the purpose to learn his fundamental singingmethod and the grasp of different styles Chinese songs.From the research on the singing style of Liao Changyong, the third chapter is to provethat the integration of singing method is the developmental orientation of music and willcontribute to the popularization of Chinese musical works.
