| With the outbreak of the September 18 Incident in 1931,war intervened in People’s Daily life and changed the life path and way of thinking of literary creators.Under the new emotional experience,some writers began to make timely adjustment to their literary styles.On the one hand,Xu Xu’s novels during the period of Anti-Japanese war continued the writing of "dreams and stories" and created a unique art world with magnificent and mysterious romantic stories,demonstrating the pattern of detached reality,which was a deviation from the mainstream of The Times.On the other hand,the deviation from the mainstream revolutionary narrative did not mean that he was isolated from the themes of The Times.In the face of the changes in zeitgeist,society and politics,Xu was not indifferent.His wartime experience influenced his literary forms and contents,and he chose a unique perspective to express his concern for the destiny of his country and suffering sentient beings.Therefore,some literary works in this period also indicated the trend of getting close to the theme of The Times.On the basis of close reading of the text,this paper sorted out and analyzed the relationship between Xu Xu’s literary creation during the Anti-Japanese War and The Times,so as to explore the uniqueness and transcendence of Xu Xu’s novel creation in the trend of literary writing serving the Anti-Japanese War.This thesis consists of three parts: introduction,text and conclusion.The introduction part mainly analyses the research achievements of current academic community on Xu Xu’s novels,and then puts forward the research significance and research methods of this paper.The main body discusses the relationship between Xu Xu’s creation and The Times from three chapters.The first chapter analyzes the differences between Xu Xu’s novels and the main trend of The Times in the excavation of themes,the shaping of character images,the choice of style and the generation of literary ideas.In terms of subject selection,Xu Xu demonstrated his preference for romantic literary topics of "love and beauty",his meditation on human nature beyond reality,and his attention to individuals under collective discourse.In terms of characterization,Xu Xu portrayed non-sanctified heroes,"celibate" intellectuals and spies who "revert to being human",which were different from the fearless heroes called by The Times.In terms of style,Xu Xu enhanced the poetic characteristics of the style by constructing the poetic text world and the poetic language.In terms of literary concepts,Xu Xu reflected on the popular theory of literature and art put forward by the left wing.The second chapter analyses Xu Xu’s integration with The Times in context of creation,emotion and narrative of war during the Anti-Japanese War,showing his attention to The Times and the war.First of all,the context of Xu Xu’s novels conformed the background of The Times.In the isolated island,Xu Xu showed the reality of "isolated island" in a tortuous way by means of metaphor.For example,The Wind Rustling created in Chongqing and the Spring set in Chongqing both took war as the background of the story development,showing the characteristics of leisure.Secondly,Xu Xu presented survival anxiety in the isolated island period,life experience in the process of exile,and life consciousness generated in the war in his literary works during the Anti-Japanese War.As a writer with a sense of national responsibility,Xu Xu set his eyes on the war environment,on the individual,society and the country in wartime.In terms of war narratives,he combined the war with daily narratives,dealing with emotions generated in the war as personal emotions,showing the trauma of "human beings" in the war.In the narrative of the war,he combined the war with the daily narrative,treated the emotions generated in the war into private emotions,and showed the trauma of "people" in the war.The third chapter analyzes Xu Xu’s literary choices and their causes in the course of the Anti-Japanese War.Xu Xu had an independent cultural personality,which was not attached to any literary organization,maintained the conscience of intellectuals in the special period,and dared to remain sober and independent in the current of The Times.At the same time,he took individualism and liberalism as his beliefs,advocated the independence of literature,practiced the literary concept of "trilateral literature",and consciously alienated himself from the mainstream of the literary world.Ultimately,Xu Xu’s romantic literary creation tendency made him withdraw from the ranks of realistic collective creation in the pursuit of "ideal",and left his own mark in the literary world in the 1940 s with a "personal attitude".On the basis of the full text,the conclusion summarizes the creation of Xu during the Anti-Japanese War. |
