Practice Report On Simultaneous Interpretation Of English And Chinese In Yale University's Psychology Open Course "The Science Of Happiness

This report is based on an English to Chinese consecutive interpreting of the Yale University psychology open course of “The Science of Happiness”.The writer of this report makes an analysis of the problems in the practice of interpreting,including the redundancy of the target language,the information omission,the unclear meaning of the target language and the improper interpreting of psychological terms.The writer of this report uses a variety of interpreting strategies to solve the above problems.And the solutions are as follows: omission and induction for the redundancy;supplemented interpreting and hypernym using for the information omission;adding associated words and reconstructing sentence patterns for the unclear meaning of the target language;adopting literal translation and free translation for the improper psychological terms.It is hoped that this report can help interpreters improve their professional qualification as well as the quality of interpreting,and at the same time provide some experience and reference for fellow interpreters.
