Although Zhang Wen’an and Zhang Wentao were known as the "Two Difficult Masters" at the time,Zhang Wen’an’s research is very weak.In view of this, this dissertation is divided into five chapters, from Zhang Wen’an’s life and social interaction, the state of the edition of "Hai Bai Shi Cao" and its creation stages, the acceptance of " Zhang Wen’an " to Du Fu,the study of disciplinary poems, and the study of mourning poems and brotherhood poems to make a more systematic study of Zhang Wen’an’s "Hai Bai Shi Cao".The first chapter examines Zhang Wen’an’s life and friendships.Zhang Wen’an was born into a family of scholars in Shu,so he spent half of his life trying to succeed his family’s prestige, but he was eventually awarded the name of a scholar. In the second half of his life,he stopped his desire for fame and fortune, and lived in Shu,writing books and making speeches.Although he was a simple man of the cloth,he had numerous friendships at that time with the influence of his family prestige and his brother Zhang Wentao, and his friendships included many powerful people and celebrities of the dynasty. The second chapter examines the editions of Zhang Wen’an’s Hai Bai Shi Cao and the stages of its composition. It is noted that the last three editions are all from this base text of the twenty-first year of the Jiaqing era.The composition of the poems in the early, middle, and late periods of his life show different characteristics. In terms of the number of poems written, the middle period is the peak of his creation, while the early and late periods have relatively few poems in stock. In terms of poetic style, although the overall style is simple and elegant,in the middle period, his poetic style shows a bold and vigorous side.In terms of the choice of poetic style, the early and late periods favored near-style poetry, and the middle period had both near-style and ancient-style poetry. The third chapter examines Zhang Wen’an’s acceptance of Du Fu.Firstly,Zhang Wen’an’s acceptance of Du Fu is discussed in terms of poetic spirit, mainly the humanitarian spirit of paying attention to reality and people’s livelihood, and the poetic-historical spirit of using poetry to preserve history and pass on one’s poetry to oneself, which was much influenced by Du Fu.Secondly,in terms of technique,Zhang Wen’an is more obviously influenced by Du Fu in terms of both syntax and chapter style. Finally,it is revealed that Zhang Wen’an consciously studied Du Fu because of the similarity of his life, and influenced by the culture of the times and the region. The fourth chapter focuses on the Travel note poems in his poetry collection.Because the poems in the collection are so heavily weighted,a whole chapter is devoted to their study. The main focus is on the ideological content and artistic characteristics of the poems, which are mainly concerned with describing the scenic spots during the journey and expressing the inner feelings during the journey. In terms of artistic characteristics, the poem adopts a realistic approach, detailing the landscape and presenting a majestic and bold style of composition, which is different from that of his younger brother Zhang Wentao’s Travel note poems poems. The fifth chapter examines the two themes of his poems, mourning poems and brotherhood poems, which reveal Zhang Wen’an’s emotional world in two dimensions:love and affection, respectively. His poems on mourning for the deceased are based on three levels of emotional content: expression of grief and love, expression of guilt, and chanting of women’s virtue, and they form three typical lyrical patterns. The brother poems focus on the deep friendship between two brothers,Zhang Wen’an and Zhang Man’tao, conveyed through the comparison of the two brothers’ love for each other, and note the influence of their friendship on Zhang Wen’an’s poetry, including the motivation for his poetry and the aesthetic style of the poems’ authenticity and meaning.
