Report On Simultaneous Interpretation Of The Documentary "Is A Hundred Years Very Long?" In Chinese And Englis

This is a practice report on Chinese to English consecutive interpreting for the documentary Life is a Belief.It has investigated the interpreting practice from the four major perspectives,namely the introduction to the task,the process of the task,the problems and strategies in the practice of consecutive interpreting,and the summary of the interpreting practice.In the process of the practice,the thesis mainly focuses on three major problems: semantic loss,redundancy,and unclear logic of the target language.Through specific case analysis,the thesis was proposed the problems in the process of interpreting and summarized the corresponding solution strategies.For the problem of semantic loss in the interpreting,the strategy of abstraction and specification,the strategy of free interpreting and the strategy of phonetic interpreting with notes are applied;for the problem of redundancy,the strategies of omitting interpreting and combination are adopted;for the issue of unclear logic in the interpreting,the strategies of splitting and reorganizing as well as adding conjunctions are exploited.By analyzing this report,the author hopes to recognize the problems in interpreting and lay the foundation for future interpreting tasks,and hopes that the report can bring about observation for interpreters engaged in documentary interpreting.
