| This practice report is based on the consecutive interpreting mock of Public Oral Argument of Biden V.Missouri.With China’s growing influence in the international community,China’s foreign exchanges and cooperation have gradually increased,and the legal interpreting industry has also developed.However,the study of legal interpreting is a relatively young subject all over the world,while the study of legal interpreting in China started even later,and there is no legislation on court interpreting in China at present.There are only a few rules to follow,leading to some conflicts and controversies.Based on the case of public oral argument in the case of Joe Biden v.Missouri,this report analysis is divided into three stages: pre-interpreting,while-interpreting,and post-interpreting.pre-interpreting preparation includes case information and procedures,making a glossary,and finding parallel texts.During the stage of while-interpreting,the interpreter needs to pay attention to the ethics,role,and some emergency measures.After interpreting,the interpreter should make an analysis to sum up the problems and correct them,and prepare for the next court interpreting.This report also analyzes the diction,syntactic features,and speech style in court interpreting.For the diction,court interpreting should be accurate and professional.In terms of sentence features,in order to interpret accurately,sentences in court interpreting tend to be complex with intensive information.Therefore,in court interpreting,interpreters often encounter some challenges,such as legal terms,long sentences,and note-taking.In order to solve these problems,based on Skopos Theory,this report puts forward some solutions,such as pre-task preparation,professional knowledge learning,some court interpreting note-taking skills,and machine-assisted interpreting. |
