Reading is an indispensable part of language learning and is crucial way of language input.However,in the current junior high school English teaching,most teachers focus on teachers’explanation and students’ translation in the reading class;In the previous of English class,students’ enthusiasm for learning English is decreasing and even they are bored with English classes,and students lose their confidence in reading and learning.In order to change the problems mentioned above,this paper adopts a new reading model--Reading Circles."Reading Circles" teaching model has been widely concerned by many researchers at home and abroad.Foreign researches on "Reading Circles" teaching model have been gradually matured,but domestic researches are still in infancy.Therefore,this thesis attempts to apply this model to English reading teaching to explore the impact of "Reading Circles" teaching model on junior high school,then,intend to answer the following questions:(1)what impacts does the "Reading Circles" teaching model have on students’English reading competence?(2)what impacts does the teaching model have on students’ English reading attitude?(3)what impacts does the teaching model have on students’ English cooperative learning ability in junior high school?Based on constructivism,cooperative learning theory and reader response theory,the author randomly selects 86 students from two parallel classes in Grade 9 of a junior high school in Jinzhong City,Shanxi Province as the research subjects for teaching research.There are 42 people in the experimental class and 44 people in the control class.Before and after the experiment,the author adopts pre-tests and post-tests and questionnaires as research instruments to collect data,and uses SPSS 21.0 to sort out and analyze data.The results indicate that:1)the application of "Reading Circle" model in English reading teaching in junior high school can be beneficial to students’ English reading performance;2)the application of this model can improve students’ English reading attitude.By comparing the data of students’ reading attitude in the experimental class,it shows that students’ reading attitude is greatly improved;3)This model is conductive to improve students’ cooperative learning ability.The teaching implications of "Reading Circle" teaching model to English reading teaching in junior high school is as follows:first of all,from the perspective of students,students have changed from passive recipients of knowledge to learning subjects.What is more,from the perspective of teachers,the teachers’ roles change from imparting knowledge and leaders in the classroom to guiders and promoters of students’ learning.Last but not least,from the perspective of learning process,knowledge learning is not static,but dynamic.This study hopes to provide some experience for English reading teaching in junior high school and make reading teaching more effective.
