Research On The Association Of Huangpu Military Academy Alumni(1926-1930)

This paper makes a systematic study of the Association of Huangpu Military Academy Alumni from 1926 to 1930.It studies the establishment and development of the Association of Huangpu Military Academy Alumni,the internal disputes and divisions of the Association of Huangpu Military Academy Alumni,the relationship between Chiang Kai-shek and the Association of Huangpu Military Academy Alumni,and the relationship between the Association of Huangpu Military Academy Alumni and the Factions of Huangpu.This research has important academic significance for in-depth understanding of the fundamental nature,organizational structure,important functions and roles of the Association of Huangpu Military Academy Alumni.The first chapter studies the student groups before the establishment of the Association of Huangpu Military Academy Alumni.The Association of Huangpu Military Academy Alumni was the product of the struggles of different student groups in the early days of the Huangpu Military Academy from 1924 to 1926.Due to the ideological contradictions and differences between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party,student groups such as the Mars Society,the China Youth Soldiers Federation,and the Sun Wenism Society were formed in the military school.The internal struggle between the China Youth Soldiers Federation and the Sun Wenism Society paved the way for the split between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party.Chiang Kai-shek disbanded the above two political groups on the grounds of maintaining unity within the military academy and merged to form the new Association of Huangpu Military Academy Alumni.The second chapter studies the establishment and development of the Association of Huangpu Military Academy Alumni.After the establishment of the Association of Huangpu Military Academy Alumni,Chiang Kai-shek established a personal-centered organizational system within the Association of Huangpu Military Academy Alumni.After the "April 12" coup,Chiang Kai-shek reorganized the Association of Huangpu Military Academy Alumni.The Communist Party within the organization was eliminated,and then its organization expanded and extended to the political and military departments.After the dissolution of the Association of Huangpu Military Academy Alumni in 1930,Chiang Kai-shek established the Central Military School Graduate Investigation Office with the members of the former Association of Huangpu Military Academy Alumni as the core members.The third chapter discusses the internal disputes and differentiation of the Association of Huangpu Military Academy Alumni.The Kuomintang and the Communist Party in the Association of Huangpu Military Academy Alumni launched a debate on the "Huangpu Tide".The Communist Party and Kuomintang left-wing students publicized the "three major policies" and opposed the ideas of the right-wing Kuomintang.During the Northern Expedition,the Communist Party and Kuomintang left-wing Huangpu students in the Hubei first launched the "Rescue the Principal Movement",which later developed into an anti-Chiang movement.After the "April 12" coup,Chiang Kai-shek banned the Guangdong office of the Association of Huangpu Military Academy Alumni led by the Communist Party;after the "July 15" coup,anti-Chiang Huangpu students established the Association of Huangpu Military Academy Revolutionary Alumni.Although it was called "revolutionary",it was actually "supporting Wang and opposing Chiang".The fourth chapter discusses the relationship between Chiang Kai-shek and the Association of Huangpu Military Academy Alumni.The purpose of Chiang Kai-shek’s establishment of the Association of Huangpu Military Academy Alumni is to control the Huangpu students,prevent the development of the Communist Party,and make himself the authority of ideology and belief within the Kuomintang.The Association of Huangpu Military Academy Alumni is an organization similar to an internal party group.Chiang Kai-shek has absolute authority in the association and is closely related to Chiang Kai-shek’s important military and political activities.At the same time,the honor and disgrace of the Association of Huangpu Military Academy Alumni is also directly related to the rise and fall of Chiang Kai-shek’s power status.The fifth chapter explores the relationship between the Association of Huangpu Military Academy Alumni and the Factions of Huangpu.The establishment of the Association of Huangpu Military Academy Alumni was a landmark event in the budding period of the Factions of Huangpu,which played an important role in the emergence and development of the Factions of Huangpu.At the same time,Chiang Kai-shek strengthened Chiang Kai-shek’s military centralization through the Association of Huangpu Military Academy Alumni.On the basis of the above,through the analysis of the deep-seated reasons for the establishment of the Association of Huangpu Military Academy Alumni,the fundamental nature,internal disputes between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party,the relationship between Chiang Kai-shek and the Association of Huangpu Military Academy Alumni,and the relationship between the Association of Huangpu Military Academy Alumni and the Factions of Huangpu,it is believed that the Association of Huangpu Military Academy Alumni is Chiang Kai-shek’s an important tool for strengthening military centralization and established the basis for Chiang Kai-shek’s military dictatorship.
