The Grieving Brain is a psychological autobiography by the Mary-Frances O’Connor.She is not only an excellent writer,but also a psychologist.She sees the grief from unique perspective.This book tells the relationship between grief and the brain.The chapter two,nine and a part of tenth chapter of this book are excerpted as translation material.This part mainly tells the relationship between brain and emotion and people should have a correct view of grief.This part is rich in information and knowledge at multiple levels,not only hoping to popularize knowledge,but also to educate and publicize.In the process of translation,the author finds that this book not only states the psychological research findings,but also expresses her emotion and attitude,as well as the appeal to the readers,hoping to arouse the readers’ thinking,while Reiss’ s text typology expounds the informative text that pays attention to the content,the expressive text that pays attention to the expression of the author’s feelings,and the operative text that emphasizes the readers’ react,which is consistent with the function that the corpus wants to achieve.Therefore,under the guidance of Reiss’ s typology,the author adopts the translation methods of literal translation,additional translation,and imitation according to the text type,so as to accurately convey the meaning of the original text in the informative text,convey the author’s feelings in the expressive text,and stimulate the readers’ reflection in the operative text.It is found that Reiss’ s Text Typology has guiding significance for the translation of multi-functional texts.According to the text type,the corresponding translation strategies are adopted,and the translation becomes traceable.This report aims to provide reference for the translation of psychological autobiographical texts.
