The natural experience of children is disappearing because of the accelerating process of urbanization.In particular,affected by the current COVID-19 epidemic,the gap between children and nature has become increasingly clear.All this is particularly severe in children between the ages of 3 and 7.As one of the main ways for children to understand the world and receive the information from knowledge of nature,the natural popular science picture books can effectively make up for the lack of children’s natural experience.Children are increasingly eager to learn knowledge of nature through natural science picture books.At present,there are many kinds of picture books about children’s natural science popularization in China,but most of them are still in the "poverty" state of only "teaching" but not "educating".As an educational model with nature as its teacher,nature education is a basic education to establish the correct relationship between man and nature,which can effectively help children to alleviate the phenomenon of natural deficiency at the present stage.Therefore,nature education and children’s natural science picture books have the same educational purpose.The concept of nature education also provides a new design strategy for children’s natural science popularization picture books.Through the research on the design of children’s natural science popularization picture books,we hope to reduce the degree of children’s lack of nature.This paper adopts literature research method,5W2 H analysis method,investigation method,case combination method,interdisciplinary research method,etc.First of all,through the analysis of the concept of nature education to define the relevant concepts of children’s natural science picture books,to provide a practical and effective theoretical basis for the comprehensive analysis of children’s natural science picture books.Secondly,the analysis of 3-7 years old children’s physical behavior,aesthetic and psychological characteristics and cognitive needs,and on this basis,the investigation and analysis of children’s natural science picture books,from which to sort out and sum up the reality of children’s needs.Based on the case analysis,the design direction of children’s natural science popularization picture books was deduced,which provided the basis for the design strategy of children’s natural science popularization picture books.Thirdly,combined with the concept of nature education,the design principles suitable for the creation of children’s natural popular science picture books are condensed and the five design elements of children’s natural popular science picture books are put forward,i.e.,the creation should take the "objective" story as the core,the "complementary" composition design as the creation basis,the focus on the "children’s interest" modeling performance in the design,the "pure" color application and the "truth" text arrangement.Based on the above research,this paper summarizes the three design levels and two design methods of children’s natural science picture books under the concept of nature education.Finally,the design strategies are applied in the design practice of children’s natural science popularization picture books,and the original children’s natural science popularization picture books which not only meet the psychological needs of children but also have the characteristics of natural science popularization are created,which brings different visual experiences and new research path for children’s natural science popularization picture books.In summary,the application of the concept of nature education to the design of children’s natural science popularization picture books in this study can not only promote the diversified development of nature education,but also provide some creative reference for the design and research of children’s natural science popularization picture books. |
