Professional identity refers to the students’ recognition and affection of their majors.As a dynamic factor,It has an important impact on students’ learning enthusiasm,inner suitability,learning behavior and employment orientation.Compared with students majoring in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages,the professional identity of cross-major MTCSOL students has greater changes after graduation,and even affects their employment.Therefore,it is very important to investigate the professional identity of MTCSOL students and explore the common factors that influence their development.In this paper,the multiple cases research method in case study is selected and the form of interview and existing literature is combined.Analyzing the current status of MTCSOL professional identity from two aspects: cross-examination motivation and types of professional identity.The first part,according to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory,to analyse the motivation of cross-major MTCSOL,and the degree of professional identity of cross-major Students in the initial stage of professional learning.The second part “Type Analysis”,with Marcia four states of self-identification for the standard,from professional cognition,professional emotion,professional behavior,professional fitness,analyzed its stage and change,to explore the common factors influencing the professional identification,and to improve some advice.The research results mainly include the following aspects:1.The motivation of cross-major MTCSOL students is multifaceted in the preparation stage,which can be divided into internal needs and external influences.The higher the proportion of internal needs is,the higher the degree of major identity is.The greater the proportion of the growth needs in the internal needs,the more likely it is to promote the cross-major students’ recognition of their major.2.There are six types of professional identification of cross-major MTCSOL students.In the stage of professional learning,the professional identity types are mainly exploration-oriented and oriented.In the stage of internship and employment,the professional identity types have transitional changes,which can be divided into exploration-lost,exploration-exploration,exploration-oriented and oriented.3.The common factors affecting the professional identity of cross-major students are divided into internal and external parts.They are cross-examination motivation,personal characteristics,employment planning and influence of others,school factors and social factors.On the basis of understanding the situation and influencing factors of cross-major students’ professional identity,the following suggestions are proposed:1.Students should be clear about their cross-examination motivation,understand their major,improve their professional quality and ability awareness,have the courage to practice,and perceive the charm of their major.2.The school should improve the information,publicize the major,provide good practice,give good guidance,play the role of tutor,adjust the curriculum structure and increase the proportion of practice.3.The society should guide the public to correctly understand the profession,change the traditional employment concept,the state should clarify the profession orientation,and improve the guarantee mechanism.
