As a cultural window for external exchanges, tourism website plays a vital role in domestic tourism and cultural dissemination. However, after browsing tourism websites in Shaanxi, the author has found that there is still a word for word translation problem in the translation of website texts, which shows more features of Chinese TWT.In order to improve the translation quality of English version of TWT and the browsing experience of potential tourists, the author of the thesis studies the translation of the English version of the tourism website under the guidance of Functional equivalence theory through comparative study of ST and PT.Taking the Shaanxi Cultural Tourism Website as an example, the thesis proposes specific and targeted translation methods to improve the translation quality of English version of TWT.The research object of the thesis is the introductory texts of scenic spots. The Chinese and English versions of Shaanxi Cultural Tourism Website and the English version of Australia Official Tourism Website, respectively, serve as the source text, target text, and parallel text.Using qualitative research methods, the author analyzes the differences in the introduction texts of scenic spots between Chinese and Australia websites from the four aspects of functional equivalence, namely lexical equivalence, syntactic equivalence, textual equivalence and stylistic equivalence, and adjusts translation strategies, proposing specific and targeted translation methods and providing revised English versions, thus enhances the acceptance of target readers. The study found that functional equivalence theory has guiding significance for the translation of TWT,and can propose practical translation methods from four aspects.
