Improving the quality of education and cultivating high-quality talents is an arduous task,and the development of education is inseparable from the development and growth of the teaching staff.Teacher professional development requires teacher professional standards as a tool for measurement and evaluation.However,in China,there is not yet a professional standard for teachers of English in secondary.This study is based on the basic five steps of evidence-based practice,namely:finding problems,retrieving evidence,synthesizing,communicating with practice objects,and evaluating,in order to conduct evidence-based practice study on the professional standards of English teachers in secondary.The main contents of the study include: 1.Constructing the evidence-based practice pattern of the standard.2.Exploring the current situation of international teachers’ professional development research,and statistically analyzing the keywords for formulating standards.3.Investigating the understanding and opinions of English teachers in secondary on the standard.4.Put forward some suggestions on evidence-based practice study on professional standards of English teachers in secondary.Firstly,this study defines evidence-based practice pattern of the standard by summarizing the literature,critically absorbing the concept of evidence-based practice,and combining the connotation of English teachers’ professional standards.Secondly,in retrieving evidence,on the one hand,the visualization software Citespace is used to analyze the data of the papers in the field of teacher professional development by country and research institution in order to explore the current status of international teacher professional development research.On the other hand,based on the research data,the top seven keywords are: teacher professional knowledge and skills,technology integration,identity,cooperation,assessment,innovation,and social competence.Thirdly,through semi-open interviews with 9 first-line English teachers in secondary as practical objects,this study is to explore the current situation of their understanding of and their suggestions and ideas on the formulation of the professional standard.The study results show that the teachers do not know much about the professional standard.They believe that the professional standard should include professional knowledge and skills,personal cultivation,social competence,personal charm and aesthetics,and Technology.Lastly,based on the overall research,this study is to summarize and make conclusion of the study and moreover,to make suggestions for the improvement of the standard in the perspective of research method,content,and implement.
