In recent years,as the impetus of the vocational education to our social and economic development is more and more prominent,the Party and the state leaders pay closer attention to the development of it.As we know,the secondary vocational education plays an important part in our country's vocational education.So the development of secondary vocational English teachers is the key to the secondary vocational education's development.However,the professional development of English teachers in vocational schools in China has relatively serious problems:The English teachers don't clear what the professional development is and they don't grasp the methods of the development,which is contrary to the reform of English education and the cultivation of educational talents.Therefore,the writer carries out the research of the present professional development situation of the secondary vocational English teachers.It is hoped that it can promote the effective development of English teachers' professional development in secondary vocational schools.This paper is based on the development of the English teachers in secondary vocational schools,and respectively selects 304 English teachers of 22 schools from the three districts and four cities of Jiangmen city as the object.This study uses questionnaire survey,interview and participant observation as the research method,and is supported by the theories of the teacher professional development theory and lifelong education theory.It investigates and analyzes the basic information,the teaching and research situation,the teaching activities and training situation and the professional growth of the English teachers in the secondary vocational schools.The study handed out 304 questionnaires and recovered 294 effective ones,and the recovery rate is 97%.The results of the investigation are the following:(1)the sex ratio among the English teachers has obvious difference,and their teaching and management work is intensive;(2)the English teachers' self-learning awareness is weak,and their research level is low;(3)the effect of the English teachers' open class exchange,the assessment activities and the teaching training is not significant;(4)the main influencing factors of theEnglish teachers' professional development are the person factor,the school factor and the social factor,and the person factor has more impacts;(5)there is a positive relationship among the professional development situation,the influencing factors and the professional development paths.The changes in the development of things are influenced by the internal(subjective)factors and the external(objective)factors,and the internal(subjective)factors are the leading ones.The study seriously analyzes the reasons of the English teachers' professional development of the secondary vocational schools in Jiangmen City,from the personal aspect,the school aspect and the social aspect,then puts forward the corresponding promotion strategies: firstly,the secondary vocational English teachers need to enhance the overall quality of the individual;secondly,the secondary vocational schools should improve the hardware and software construction work;thirdly,the social forces also need to actively participate in the construction of the secondary vocational English teachers' professional development,so as to optimize the secondary vocational school English teachers,and promote the development of secondary vocational schools education.
