| The professional development of teachers is not only a new demand for teachers’ literacy ability in the new era,but also the key to the high-quality development of basic education.Based on the standard of teachers with four qualifications in the new era,this study explores the current status,existing problems and improvement strategies of the professional development of junior high school English teachers from the aspects of professional philosophy,professional knowledge and professional ability,referring to the Professional Standards for Middle School Teachers and relevant theories.Based on literature analysis in the new era,this study distinguishes the connotation,characteristics and the new requirements for professional development of the junior high school English teachers in Baohe District,Hefei.Through questionnaires,interviews and other means,this paper investigates the current status and causes.According to the professional requirement of teachers with four qualifications in the new era,some strategies can be proposed to improve the professional development.In light of the survey and analysis,some main problems are revealed.For example,the cultivation of teachers’ ethics needs to be strengthened urgently and the student-oriented ideology needs to be improved.The professional knowledge is relatively out of date and not well structured.The professional competence needs to be strengthened,especially for teaching and research competence and after-school service competence.The internal drive force for professional sustainable development is insufficient,and the consciousness and way of professional active development are lacking.The main strategies are to establish a new concept of professional development for teachers on the standard of teachers with four qualifications;to renew teachers’ professional knowledge and innovate the structure of professional knowledge,to improve teachers’ information literacy;to enhance teachers’ teaching skills and after-school service ability;to master the methods and approaches of lifelong learning in order to promote the sustainable development of teachers’ professionalism. |
