From ancient times to the present,Thai people have been learning Chinese for a long time.In recent years,China has become stronger and stronger,and the Thai people learning Chinese at a younger age.Young learners are a specific teaching target.Furthermore,their traits of character and learning characteristics make them face different difficulties from adult learners in the teaching process.At present,there are many Chinese textbooks in the Thai market,and their quality varies.Among these textbooks,this thesis chooses Chinese Friends,edited by Kedsara Aitsarawuttiwat and Hathairat Rattanasiriwilai,and tries to get objective results through a combination of quantitative and qualitative examinations,to provide some references for the development of compiling textbooks.This paper selects Chinese Friends,and probes into the number,level,distribution,annotation of vocabulary,the topics,genre,and degree of difficulty of the texts,the number and types of questions in all six books,and uses a questionnaire to collect feedback from Chinese teachers on the use of the textbook.Therefore,it is found that Chinese Friends has an uneven distribution of vocabulary,high difficulty and the problem of expressing Chinese meaning in Thai.Chinese Friends has obvious conversational characteristics in its arrangement,with a wide variety of materials and a wide range of contents,but the text is short within 500 words.From the analysis of“the longest sentence length,average sentence length,and text difficulty” in the Chinese Graded Reading Guide,the textbook has a high level of text difficulty.The exercise of Chinese Friends has a variety of questions and novel contents,which apply to various scenes of life,but the vocabulary exercises are much more than the grammar exercises,which are not quite even.Based on the analysis of the compiling and use of Chinese Friends,the following suggestions are put forward: in terms of vocabulary,reduce the amount and the difficulty of vocabulary,exclude the words which are beyond,and ensure the accuracy of Thai interpretations;in terms of text,reduce the length of the text,increase the interest and timeliness of the text,and use more illustrations to attract children’s interest;in terms of exercises,increase grammar exercises to consolidate students’ grammar foundation,and pay more attention to the relevance of the exercises to the articles. |
