Cao Zhibai Series In The Imitation Paingtings Of WangHui

This paper takes the Cao Zhibai series of ancient paintings of Wang Yi in the early Qing Dynasty as the main research object.Through the examination of the relevant paintings of Cao and Wang and the comparison of painting styles,we try to explore why Wang Yi,an orthodox painter in the early Qing Dynasty,has many large-scale imitations for a Cao Zhibai who is not in the true vein of Nanzong,especially in the middle and late years.Further research found that Wang Yi imitated Cao Zhibai,which began at the age of 31,and in the next 10 years,Wang Fei’s understanding of Cao Zhibai’s paintings stayed at a relatively preliminary stage,that is,the appearance of Nanzong in Cao Zhibai’s paintings,and the style of brush and ink painting was Dong Ju.After entering the age of 40,Wang Yi had a deeper and more diverse understanding of Cao painting.Therefore,this article is titled "Cao Zhibai Series in Wang Yi’s Antique Paintings",and through documentary records and existing paintings,the causes and consequences of Wang Yilin’s imitation of Cao Zhibai and the changes in the style of imitation pictures are discussed.The main text is mainly divided into three parts.The first chapter is: The Background Formation of Wang Yi’s Imitation of Cao Painting",combing through the possible allegories of Cao Zhibai and Wang Yi on Cao Painting,and deducing why Wang Yi included Cao Zhibai in his own antique painting system in the context of the Northern and Southern Sectarian Theory.The second chapter examines the existing paintings of Wang Yi imitating Cao Zhibai,combined with the literature records,from the engraving and falling of the picture itself,explores the transformation of Wang Yi’s pattern in the process of antiques,focusing on "Hanlin Ya fun map","Imitation Cao Zhibai Xilin Zen Room Map","Antique Landscape Atlas" and so on.From this,we can comb and explore Wang Yi’s imitation of Cao Yunxi.The third chapter analyzes the characteristics of Wang Yi’s imitation of Cao Zhibai’s painting style from the layout of Wang Yi’s imitation of Cao’s paintings,pen and ink,seals,etc.Finally,in the epilogue,this article is intended to explore Wang Yi’s cognition of Cao Zhibai and its role and influence in Wang Yi’s entire antique system.
