Abstract/Summary:
In 2017,English New Curriculum Standards for Common High School proposed that English courses need to improve students’ “core competence of English subjects” on the basis of implementing the fundamental task of “cultivating people with morality”.Core competence has become an important indicator for cultivating talent.Thinking quality is one of the contents of core competence.The proposal of core competence also represents the transformation of classroom teaching tasks.However,many teachers still pay more attention to basic vocabulary,grammar,sentence patterns etc.Students are also accustomed to passively accepting knowledge.Classroom questioning lacks coherence.Teachers are not paying enough attention to students’ thinking quality in the process of English learning.And reading is an important part of English teaching.Therefore,this research aims to explore the influence of the question chain teaching model that integrates the training goal of students’ thinking quality on students’ thinking quality in logic,criticism and innovation.This research is based on the Constructivist Theory,Zone of Proximal Development,combined with relevant research at home and abroad,the current situation of students’ thinking quality and question chain teaching in senior high school.Then two research questions are proposed:(1)What is the current situation of students’ thinking quality in English reading in senior high school.(2)In English reading teaching of the senior high school,what influence does the questions chain teaching of promoting the cultivation of thinking quality have on the critical,logic and innovation of students’ thinking.The researcher takes English teachers and the grade one(class 9)students at intern school as the research objects.In research method,the researcher uses action research,combined with qualitative and quantitative methods,such as the tendency scale of thinking quality,interview,and ability test of thinking quality,to explore the influence of the question chain teaching model that integrates students’ thinking quality on students’ thinking quality in logic,criticism and innovation.The research shows that,firstly,English teachers in the senior high school pay less attention to question chain teaching and the implementation effort is not enough.The current level of students’ thinking quality is at medium level or below.Secondly,after action research,the question chain teaching model integrating the thinking quality has certain effect on promoting development of students’ thinking quality in logic,criticism and innovation.Regardless of the tendency or the ability of thinking quality,they have improved slightly in three dimensions.Among them,the logic is greatly improved.Through this research,researcher hope to put forward reasonable suggestions for English reading teaching in the future.
