According to the report of the 18thChinese Communist Party National Congress,the primary goal of education is to cultivate people’s moral character,which calls for the integration of ideological and political education into all aspects of the educational process in order to produce socialist successors who are well-rounded in their intellectual,physical,and aesthetic well-being.High school English textbooks are great for curriculum political and ideological education because of their cultural connotations and moral standards.Because of its focus on English reading teaching in Chinese senior high schools,this study uses the curriculum ideological and political education to help students improve theirstudents’interest in reading and reading level.The students of a senior high school in Nanchang will be used as research subjects for the study that will include questionnaires,interviews,and experiments.As a result of this experiment,students in Class 29(the control class)will continue to receive the traditional reading instruction,whereas those in Class 26(the experimental class)will use the textbook unit theme as a springboard to explore and uncover potential ideological and political elements related to the unit theme of the textbook.The following are the primary aims of this study:(1)Is it possible to increase the interest of high school students in English reading by including ideological and political education into the curriculum?(2)Is it possible to improve the English reading scores of high school students by integrating ideological and political education into the curriculum?The study found that students’interest in English reading has improved during the course of using ideological and political education.Additionally,students in EC experienced bigger gains in their average grades than those in CC throughout the course of the term.The ideological and political education incorporated into the curriculum had a considerable positive impact on students’reading comprehension. |
