General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that all kinds of courses should go in the same direction as ideological and political theory course so as to form a synergistic effect.The combination of ideological and political education and classroom teaching reflects the educational value of various disciplines,which is more helpful for teachers to achieve the goal of establishing morality and cultivating people.At present,most of the research related to IPEC focuses on colleges and universities,and there are few researches on senior high school and even fewer researches on senior high school English reading teaching.In this study,315 students and 116 English teachers from senior high school in Luoyang city and county were selected as the research subjects.The author investigated the current situation of integrating IPEC into English reading teaching in senior high schools around three questions through questionnaires,interviews and classroom observations: 1.What is the cognition and attitude of teachers and students on the integration of IPEC into English reading teaching in senior high schools? 2.How do English teachers integrate IPEC into English reading teaching in senior high schools? 3.What are the factors that influence the integration of IPEC into English reading teaching in senior high schools?It is found that: 1.Most teachers and students have realized the importance of integrating IPEC into English reading teaching in senior high schools and have a supportive attitude.Some teachers have already integrated IPEC into teaching and hope that schools can provide relevant training for them,but there are still a few teachers who lack the understanding of IPEC,so they have not tried integrating IPEC in teaching.2.Before class,some teachers will take the initiative to design relevant ideological and political teaching objectives and activities and explore the ideological and political elements in textbooks.In class,teachers mainly use text resources or multimedia resources to integrate IPEC,but they are accustomed to using traditional teaching methods.What’s more,they also mainly integrate ideological and political elements in the teaching link of summary.A few teachers will evaluate the effect of the integration of IPEC based on students’ perspectives and classroom performance.3.The factors affecting the integration of IPEC are as follows: First,the school lacks specific standards for the implementation of IPEC and neglects to provide teachers with relevant training on IPEC.Second,teachers lack certain ideological and political awareness and ability and they do not explore the ideological and political elements in textbooks enough.What’s more,there are also some limitations in terms of the integration of IPEC in the teaching links,teaching methods and teaching resources,and the evaluation method is single.In view of the above problems,this study puts forward effective suggestions: First,schools should establish supervision groups for IPEC,formulate a system for the implementation of IPEC and train English teachers on IPEC.Second,English teachers should strengthen their theoretical knowledge of IPEC,update teaching concepts,and enhance ideological and political awareness and ability.Third,teachers should deeply explore and refine the ideological and political elements in textbooks and try to integrate them into the whole process of reading teaching.What’s more,teachers also should innovate reading teaching methods,enrich teaching evaluation methods so as to promote the organic integration of IPEC into English reading teaching,and achieve the goal of educating people in English subjects. |
