The source text of this translation practice report is excerpted from two chapters(the second chapter and five sections of the fourth chapter)of the MOOC(Massive Online Open Course),“Plants Design: Accessing to East Asian Art”.It mainly introduces the garden plants design in ancient China and incorporates much information about Chinese traditional culture.The course involves the comparison and contrast between Oriental and Western gardens,which needs to be examined from the perspective of Chinese and Western cultural differences in translation and is of good practical significance.Based on the needs and interests of the international development of Chinese MOOCs,this project fits the requirements of the current development of online education and helps to better promote China’s high-quality MOOCs to the world and promote the development of China’s online education and educational transformation.The translator adopts the Eco-translatology theory to guide this translation practice.The three-dimensional transformation is used to analyze the difficulties in translation,such as culture-loaded words,four-character phrases,Chinese run-on sentences,Chinese non-subject sentences,and poems.Cases of translation are analyzed from linguistic,cultural,and communicative dimensions.Finally,some translation skills suitable for subtitle translation of MOOCs such as annotation,transliteration,amplification,and loan translation are explored which will provide some insights for those who are interested in related topics. |
