This report is based on the translation of an ancient folk song of Yao people called The Song of Ducaiduyin from the book An Ancient Song of the Yao’s Wedding Customs Featuring Ducaiduyin: Translation and Annotations.The Song of Ducaiduyin,as a treasure of Chinese culture,is an ancient folk song of wedding customs spreading around Zuodeng Yao Township and its surrounding areas in Tiandong County,Baise City,Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.It is a description of the yearning for a better life and a reflection the traditional views on love,marriage and family of Yao people.The publication of this book has promoted Yao’s culture and the systematic sorting of ethnic ancient books.It built a link between the Yao people of China and the Yao of the world and boosted international academic exchanges.There are plenty of words and phrases with Yao cultural characteristics in An The Song of Ducaiduyin.Therefore,the translation must be readable in conveying the connotation of Yao’s culture to make sure the readers of the target language.In this case,the report conducts research on the original text and summarizes the translation practice from different perspectives under the guide of Eco-Translatology.“Three-dimensional transformation”,one of the core concepts of Eco-Translatology,means to analyze the source text from the linguistic,cultural and communicative dimension,and then transplant the text with translator-centeredness to make the target text adapt to the corresponding translational eco-environment.According to the three-dimensional transformation of Eco-Translatology,the translator uses translation methods such as literal translation,free translation,amplification,omission and annotation to effectively solve the problems such as vocabularies with national characteristics and rhetorical devices encountered in the translation process,restore the original style and accurately express the main idea of the story and cultural connotation of the source text.The report indicates that Eco-Translatology is suitable for the translation of similar texts of folk songs,and the translation provides reference for the translation activities related to Yao’s culture in the future.
