A Report On C-E Translation Of About Ye Culture (Excerpts)

In recent years,China advocates cultural confidence and Chinese culture “goingglobal”.Translating cultural texts is an effective way to achieve these goals.Based on the theory of Eco-translatology and combined with specific cases,in this report,the translator selects relevant translation strategies and methods,analyzes the translation difficulties in the first eight articles of About Ye Culture from three dimensions,and finally summarizes and reflects on this report.In the linguistic dimension,first the methods like omission and conversion are adopted to translate Chinese four-character phrases.And then Chinese diffusive sentences are cut and recasted to conform to the English expression habits.In the cultural dimension,literal translation,free translation,annotation,interpretation and other methods are adopted to translate culture-loaded words and proper nouns.In the communicative dimension,the core information of quotations from ancient books is preserved by simplifying and integrating.The meaning of polysemous words are determined through parallel texts from dictionaries and corpora.It is found that the adaptive selection in the linguistic dimension,cultural dimension and communicative dimension of Eco-translatology is feasible to guide the international publicity translation of cultural texts and has certain value for cultural communication.The translator hopes that this translation practice can provide inspiration and reference to the international publicity translation of cultural texts and promote Chinese culture to go out.
