| Yuan Mei was listed as the head of the "three masters of Qianlong Dynasty".At the time of his prime,he chose to retire to the Suiyuan Garden.In chronological order,the literary writing of Suiyuan can be studied in three sections to explore the connotation of his image.Combined with the background of Qing Dynasty,Suiyuan’s literary writing shows the intellectual history at that time.The first part of the paper discusses the construction background of Suiyuan.It was built in Nanjing,with loose lifestyles and developed economy,and Ming and Qing Dynasties is the peak of the development of Chinese classical gardens.The second part analyzes the image characteristics of the garden in the Yuan Mei’s era.At this time,the garden has dual attributes:Yuan Mei’s personal comfort field and the place for relatives or friends.His garden life here is also a reflection of the new paradigm of recluse life in the Qing Dynasty.The third part of the paper focuses on Suiyuan’s image before the destruction of the garden.At this time,Suiyuan was regarded as the personal symbol of Yuan Mei.The evaluation of Yuan Mei tended to be objective and rational,and his contribution to poetics was re-examined.The fourth part of the paper discusses the characteristics of Suiyuan’s literary writing after it was destroyed.At this time,Suiyuan was regarded as a symbol of the prosperity of the Qing Dynasty and had the status of spiritual heritage. |
