This paper attempts to study Suiyuan Shihua from the perspective of aesthetics ethics, which has a great influence on Chinese Traditional Poetics. Yuan Mei’s Poetry is rich in content, including poetry reviews, poetry records and notes; And it has a clear keynote——advocating Xingling’s poetics. Based on the constructive of Xingling’s poetics, this paper discusses Suiyuan Shihua from three dimensions:arts (poetry), society and nature.The first chapter "Xingling of the supremacy" reveals the basic connotation of Xingling’s poetics. Yuan Mei advocated " Xingling " (temperament), which requires sincere and drastic emotion with intellectuality; He urged poets to focus on poetry writing skills. By honing their writing skills, they can produce natural piece of work. Also, he promoted forming unique poetry style by innovation on the basis of imitating the ancients’poetry. The three perspectives of "to write poetic temperament", "a poetic work as nature ", " the poetry of the poet" present Yuan Mei’s esteem to "Xingling’s poetics" of aesthetic spirit.The second chapter " heart of elegance " reveals the social connotations of Xingling’s poetics. Yuan Mei strived to advocate " Xingling ", and opposed the unhealthy atmosphere such as classifying the dynasties, engaging in the luxury style exaggeratively, putting the textual research into poems, so he took " no slander no praise "attitude to Wang Yuyang, the representative of "romantic theory". He opposed the theory of Shen Deqian’s poem style metrics and Weng Fanggang’s Skin Texture. He advocated "poetry out of the heart", and adhered to the "true ethics", opposed to " hypocritical moral", praising Du Fu but depreciating Huang Tingjian. Besides, he put poetry as the media, made poetical friends and discovered poetry talents everywhere. He has a unique elegance consciousness.To rescue poetry norms, he put an end to abuse. To communicate poetic tradition, he displayed " Xingling " and commented poets. To achieve the poetic justice, he blent society and made "Xingling" widely known.The third chapter " natural conversion " reveals the connotation of Xingling’s poetics at the point of view of the aesthetics life. Yuan Mei advocated "Xingling " but also attached importance to "nature", because he commented poems from "fun", " territory " and other areas. Besides, he treated life as poetry, sought leisure and comfortable life in" Suiyuan"and looked for one poetic habitat in the landscape. These aspects exhibited that Yuan Mei had a strong sense of involvement and the will to transcend dilemma.In general, Suiyuan Shihua reflects the harmony side in Yuan Mei’s cultural personality. He put "Xingling " into the survey of poetry, society and life and made the most beautiful natural realm as his highest self-seeking. This way to manifest ethical values was a contradiction and limitation from Yuan Mei’s times and personal ideology, but it was praised by a number of modern writers. The concerns to human and arts in Chinese traditional poetry represented by Yuan Mei should have an important enlightenment for the contemporary human to achieve the fullness of life and spirit freedom through the aesthetic way.
