| In recent years,civil aviation has gained strong national policy and financial leverage,and it is urgent to train outstanding civil aviation talents to prepare for the development of civil aviation in an ever-changing era.Fundamentals of International Aviation is an English popular science textbook.The author systematically and comprehensively introduces the composition and operation of international aviation from the perspective of international aviation law.The book is easy to understand,and suitable for cultivating students’ international vision in civil aviation colleges.It has been selected as course supplementary textbook by Introduction to Aviation,a compulsory course for English majors and translation majors in Civil Aviation University of China.The author is responsible for the translation of Chapter 8.Due to the international nature of aircraft manufacturing and operation,this chapter firstly describes the international aviation accident rate and accident cost,then discusses the search and rescue of accidents,especially international accidents,the organization and implementation of accident investigation from the framework of the International Civil Aviation Organization,analyzes and classifies the causes of accidents,and finally explains the accident investigation cases.According to Newmark’s “Text Typology Theory”,most texts could not be simply classified as one certain text type,so according to the theory,the chapter that the author is responsible for intranslating includes both informative texts and vocative texts.Based on the translation practice in Chapter 8 of Fundamentals of International Aviation,this report discusses the English-Chinese translation of informative texts and vocative texts by using translation methods such as conversion,division and restructuring of long sentences.Through the analysis,the author deems that communicative translation serves as a guidance of the translation of informative and vocative texts in the aviation field.Through specific translation methods,this translation practice has produced a readable translation that conforms to the expression habits of the target language. |
