A Study On Urban Space In Cyberpunk Films

With the boom of computer networks and the popularity of punk culture,cyberpunk films came into being in 1980 s and became the most impactful genre films in the field of science fiction at that time.As an image text in the field of contemporary culture,the screen space of cyberpunk films brings together people’s imaginative depictions of the future society and anxious reflections on technological propositions.Through the ingenious weaving of urban visual symbols,it shows the diverse spatial forms in which human beings will live in the future,and completes the humanistic observation of realistic issues such as human survival,technological development,capital control,and natural demise in the information technology era.The article is mainly divided into five chapters.The first chapter sorts out the current research status of cyberpunk film urban space at home and abroad,and the second chapter analyzes the key concepts related to urban space in cyberpunk films,which lays a theoretical foundation for the smooth development of the research.The third and fourth chapters respectively discuss the types and characteristics of cyberpunk film city space,and summarize the main types of urban space,such as decadent space,living space,cultural space,power space and cyberspace,and extract the main characteristics of urban space,such as spectacle,compound,artificiality and conflict,which is the summary of representations of cyberpunk film city space.The fifth chapter makes a cultural reflection on the performance of cyberpunk film urban space from three aspects: power order,new space and technical rationality,expressing the realistic criticism of the society controlled by capital power and the worry about the possible crisis caused by cyber space and science and technology,which deepens the connotation of cyberpunk film urban space.Cyberpunk film is full of a sense of historical mission that cares about reality,and has a natural connection with new technology,philosophy,and cultural trends of thought,trying to show people the future space-time imagination that will appear around the corner.People need to take the future urban space in films as the starting point,clarify the metaphor of the current world in the works,and explore the future trend of its symbiosis with human destiny.It is in these senses that cyberpunk film is considered to be one of the most realistic sub-genres of sci-fi films,grasping the social pathology of the era,depicting people’s anxiety and unease about technology out of control,and their loss and confusion about the future prospects,which brings people a close and timely realistic alert in the process of entering the category of popular culture.
