Hollywood has been performing strong ideological functions under the appearance of entertainment. The Star Wars series which originated from the 1970s and timed forty-one years are good subjects for study:the narrative strategies of the three trilogies vary with the historical background of their creation period, but all show strong ideological appeals. The first two of the three trilogies, with clever narrative strategy, serve the ideological functions to interactive with the historical events such as the Counter Culture Movements, the new conservatism ideological trending, the "terror era" trauma in the United States,to bridge the divided social value system, and soothed the social psychological trauma; In contrast, the Sequel trilogy,of which the narrative strategy was more clumsy in the face of the increasingly divided social values and discourse of the United States. The audience confronts the polarized public opinion and opposing ideologies through the criticism of the movies which finally caused conflicted reviews and negative market feedbacks.Faced with a highly divided audience, the creators could only choose to weaken the ideological expression and return to a stereotyped narrative strategy, thus,to avoid the movies being involved in the ideological confrontation.Under the "degradation" and"rigidity" of this narrative strategy, the ideological connotation of the Star Wars series is constantly flagging, and the ideological function is also weakened.
