digital screen,the reader of a martial arts novel had to construct his own special effects in his mind,and the viewer wanted to know more details about the characters in the show.Now,with the rapid development of network technology and smart devices,the identities of readers,players and audiences are unified.A certain online novel has been adapted into a movie and a game with the same name,while some games have also been adapted into a TV series and then a novel.The continuous migration and consumption of audiences among media generates corresponding economic and cultural values,and promotes the formation of a virtuous cycle of mutual care between different media.The linkage among movies,TV series(online series),novels,comics,games and even daily consumer products has formed a new narrative mode-Transmedia Storytelling.The specific initiator of Transmedia Storytelling is Henry Jenkins,who maintains that the most important part of cross-media narration is the construction of the story world,the use of intertextuality,interaction and communication on different media platforms,and then the formation of a story text network.At the same time,cooperative writing enables artistic creators who are good at narration of different media to share resources and carry out independent and valuable creative activities on the story world,while collaborative narration allows each media platform to present a variety of story texts.Movies,TV plays(online dramas),novels,comics and games form a cross-media network for audiences to roam freely in.Audience is also an indispensable part of Transmedia Storytelling.The collective wisdom of audience,such as the tracing of game props,reinterpretation of movie plots,fan writing,etc.,all play a role in improving and supplementing the story world.As a result,the story world becomes a"beloved brand",the audience is addicted to and continuously following the fictional world,and various media are using their own characteristics to represent the story world."Star Wars" was once popular in the 1980s,after the acquisition of Lucasfilm by the Disney Company,the "Star Wars" movies have been revitalized,the spin-off of the Web series has made the "Star Wars" story world more rich,and there is no lack of fanatical fans to follow the novels,comics,and games.The use of Transmedia Storytelling theory to observe and analyze Star Wars movies and the value contained in this IP can not only provide theoretical support and case expansion for the current academic research horizons of "IP adaptation","film and game integration" and"imagination consumption",but also provide experience guidance for the incubation and development of Chinese film IP in the future.Therefore,it is of great significance to grasp the narrative link of film IP from the Transmedia Storytelling theory.The introduction mainly studies the literature related to Star Wars film IP,film IP and Transmedia Storytelling.The first chapter mainly expounds the Transmedia Storytelling and logic of Star Wars film IP.The second chapter mainly reviews the establishment of the Transmedia Storytelling system of Star Wars film IP.Summarize the main stories and development status of Star Wars IP in novels,comics,animations,network dramas and movies.The third chapter focuses on the Transmedia Storytelling text of Star Wars film IP,expounds the story world construction of Star Wars,analyzes the main characters of the Skywalker family in combination with Joseph Campbell’s"Hero’s Journey",and analyzes the intertextual phenomenon of Star Wars texts with the use of intertextual theory.The fourth chapter studies the Transmedia Storytelling platform advantages of Star Wars IP,analyzes the advantages of different media by taking collaborative narration and cooperative writing as the fulcrum,and explains in detail how Star Wars IP "cross-media" narrative and the advantages of each media play a role in the construction of the Star Wars Universe.The fifth development with Chinese film IP development,and puts forward some suggestions.The final study believes that the Transmedia Storytelling of Star Wars film IP not only makes changes in the media,but the most important thing is that the series effectively uses all the values of the story world of "Star Wars universe" created by the film and presents them on different media.At the same time,some suggestions are made for the incubation of Chinese film IP,such as stimulating imagination to construct "source story",emphasizing audience participation and making good use of integrated thinking. |
