In recent years,many English teachers aim to cultivate students’ comprehensive language proficiency in the process of reading teaching,ignoring cultivation of students’ thinking quality.However,The New Standards of English Curriculum for Senior High School(2017 edition)makes it clear that English curriculum undertakes the task of cultivating students’ basic English competencies and developing students’ thinking quality.This is the first time that thinking quality has been clearly listed as the training goal of English discipline.Thinking quality reflects mental characteristics of core competencies of English discipline.Teachers strengthen cultivation of students’ thinking quality in the process of English teaching,which will help students improve their ability of analyzing and solving problems.In the English reading teaching based PBL,teachers need to guide students to think about problems and focus on cultivating students’ ability of analyzing problems and solving problems in the process of learning.At present,The New Standards of English Curriculum for Senior High School(2017 edition)has been implemented for four years,but few people connect cultivation of students’ thinking quality with Problem-based Learning.Therefore,based on English reading teaching,this thesis studies the impact of English reading teaching based PBL at senior high school on improving students’ thinking quality.The research questions are as follows:(1)What is the current situation of students’ English reading thinking quality at senior high school?(2)What are the effects of cultivating students’ thinking quality on English reading teaching based on PBL?In order to answer above research questions,this study adopts combination of questionnaire and test.A 14-week experimental study was conducted on students of class seven,grade one of No.1 Senior High School in Tianshui city,Gansu province.English reading teaching based PBL at senior high school is adopted in the experimental class.This study conducted a questionnaire survey on teachers before the experiment.The same set of questionnaires were used as pre-test and post-test students’ questionnaires before and after experiment.The pre-test and post-test paper were selected from reading part of unified examination paper of the first grade in this school.The researcher uses SPSS22.0 to analyze and discuss collected data.At the end of English reading teaching based PBL experiment,researcher found that students are more and more clear about content and concept of thinking quality,and students’ thinking quality has been improved to a certain extent.At the same time,students’ English reading grades has been significantly improved after the teaching experiment.Therefore,adoption of English reading teaching based PBL at senior high school can actively promote improvement of students’ thinking quality.This study provides some enlightenment and references for cultivating students’ thinking quality in English reading reaching at senior high school. |
