A Report On The Translation Of Fundamentals Of IoT And Wearable Technology Design(Chapter 2)

Nowadays,the concept of the "interconnection of everything" is deeply rooted in people’s hearts,and wearable devices such as wireless headphones,smart watches and smart glasses have entered into people’s daily life from "science fiction movies".In addition,the application scenarios of Internet of Things(IoT)and wearable technology are also widening,with extensive applications in healthcare,military equipment,virtual reality,smart clothing,smart home,smart sports and other fields.Therefore,the study of IoT and wearable technology is crucial for people to pursue a smart and connected happy life.The translation practice material is excerpted from Chapter 2 of Haider Raad’s book Fundamentals of IoT and Wearable Technology Design,which focuses on the applications of IoT and wearable devices in various fields.This material belongs to the text of science and technology,and the language used is concise and formal,with many professional terms and frequent use of passive voice,which should be taken into account in the process of translation.The translation practice report has four parts.The first part is the description of the translation task,including the source of the material,the introduction of the author and the work,and the significance of this translation practice.The second part is the description of the translation process,including the preparation before translation,the difficulties and solutions in the revision process,and the polishing and finalization of the translation work.The third part is the analyses of translation cases,in which the translator combines the stylistic characteristics of the scientific and technical text,analyzes the original and the translated texts from three levels:vocabulary,sentences and discourse.By using Skopos theory as the theoretical guide,following the Skopos rule,coherence rule and fidelity rule,the report has applied the translation techniques of lexical conversion,selecting meanings of words and sequencing adjustment,etc.The fourth part is the summary of this translation practice.Through this translation practice,the translator has gained a deeper understanding of the application of IoT and wearable technology,and has also accumulated valuable experience in translating the texts of science and technology,which will lay a foundation for the relevant translation practice in the future.The translator hopes that this practice can provide some reference for researchers in the fields related to the IoT and wearable technology.At the same time,the translator also hopes to provide some experience and reference for the translation of texts of science and technology.
