| As China’s comprehensive national strength and economic potential play a vital role in promoting world development,the deeper development of the “Belt and Road”and “Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar Economic Corridor” initiative,the continuous development of international Chinese language education,which attract more and more Bangladeshi students to study in China.As an independent Chinese learning group and country-specific international students from Bangladesh,it’s necessary to conduct research on them.As an important research project of sociolinguistics and social psychology,language attitude has a profound impact on studying and using second or foreign languages.The investigation of language attitude can provide useful information for language teaching and language planning.Therefore,studying about Chinese language attitude of Bangladeshi international students in China has some meanings.This article takes Bangladeshi students from Yunnan University as the main respondents of the survey,also including some Bangladeshi students from other four universities in Kunming.The survey intends to explore the current situation of students’ Chinese language attitude;explore whether the background factors have some impacts on students’ Chinese language attitude;explore whether the attitude towards Chinese people and the attitude towards Chinese culture are related to their Chinese language attitude respectively;and how to improve and enhance the Chinese language attitude of Bangladeshi students and how to teach them to learn Chinese.The theory of this article is language attitude,and the questionnaire is designed based on the three dimensions of language attitude.Finally,148 valid questionnaires are collected in all.Data statistics and analysis mainly use Excel(2019)and SPSS26.0,also,combined with the teachers and students’ interviews,to supply and confirm the survey research results and provide references for research enlightenment.Through research,we found that the Bangladeshi international students in China generally have a positive and upward language attitude towards Chinese language and the three dimensions of Chinese language attitude is expressed as cognitive component>behavioral tendency component>affective component.The invalid background factors that affect the Chinese language attitude of Bangladeshi international students in China include age,time in China,time spent studying Chinese before coming to China and time spent studying Chinese after arriving in China;the valid background factors are major,gender,educational background,Chinese proficiency,frequency of Chinese usage and time spent studying Chinese everyday after the class.What’s more,the attitude of Bangladeshi international students in China towards Chinese people and their attitude towards Chinese language attitude have a strong positive correlation.The order of correlation between the attitude of Bangladeshi international students in China towards Chinese people and the three dimensions of Chinese language attitude is: cognitive component=affective component>behavioral tendency component.There is a strong positive correlation between students’ attitude towards Chinese culture and attitude towards Chinese language.The order of correlation between the attitude of Bangladeshi international students in China towards Chinese culture and Chinese language attitude’ three dimensions is: behavioral tendency component>affective component>cognitive component.With the study conclusions and interview results,we propose that there are six targeted suggestions: improving students’ affection towards Chinese;teaching according to the circumstances of Bangladeshi students;increasing the frequency of students’ Chinese usage;increasing students’ daily Chinese learning time after class via diverse ways;respecting each other,communicating and helping each other,enhancing China-Bangladesh friendship;conducting targeted cultural teaching about China and organizing some colorful cultural activities. |
