Purpose:A randomized controlled clinical trial was conducted in 60 patients with acute stage of herpes zoster(HZ)to compare the efficacy and incidence of posthumous neuralgia(PHN)in the treatment of acute stage herpes zoster(Hz)with root amputomy combined with conventional western medicine and Western medicine alone. It provides an effective clinical idea for relieving pain and improving clinical symptoms and prognosis of patients with acute herpes zoster.Material and method:A total of 60 patients with acute stage herpes zoster who met the diagnosis and inclusion criteria of Chinese and Western medicine were collected from the outpatient department of acupuncture and moxibustion and inpatient department of dermatology of the affiliated Hospital of Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The 60 patients were divided into 30 patients in the treatment group(root amputation combined with conventional western medicine)and 30 patients in the control group(simple western medicine)by simple random method. In addition to conventional western medicine treatment(oral acyclovir tablets),root amputation therapy was added to the treatment group. The control group was treated with conventional western medicine(acyclovir tablets 500 mg orally,5 times a day orally).Root amputation therapy was performed once every 3 days,a total of 4 times;Acyclovir Tablets 500 mg orally 5 times a day. Both groups were observed for 14 days. Before and after treatment, the clinical efficacy was determined by the time of blistering, crusting, and decrusting, visual analog assessment(VAS),comprehensive efficacy score, incidence of afterpain, and rate of decrease of VAS.The clinical efficacy was statistically analyzed. Results:In this study,60 patients who met the criteria were collected,0 cases were shed, and 60 cases were actually completed. Before treatment, there were no significant differences in gender, age, course of disease,VAS score and comprehensive efficacy score between the two groups(P > 0.05).1.Comparison of herpes evaluation indexes between the two groups:After treatment, the time of blister in the observation group was slightly shorter, but P > 0.05,the difference was not statistically significant. The duration of scab formation and scab removal in the observation group was significantly shorter than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).2.Comparison of VAS scores between the two groups: Intra-group comparison showed that VAS scores of the two groups were lower after treatment than before treatment, and both regiments could improve patients’ pain, with statistical significance(P < 0.01).On day 7 of treatment,VAS score of observation group was lower than control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).VAS score of observation group was significantly lower than that of control group after treatment, and the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.01).3.Comparison of comprehensive efficacy scores: Intra-group comparison showed that the scores of the two groups were lower after treatment than before treatment, and the treatment HZ of the two groups showed curative effects, with statistical significance(P < 0.01).The score of the observation group was significantly lower than that of the control group after treatment, with statistical significance(P < 0.05).4.Comparison of total effective rate: In the observation group,30 cases were cured in 4 cases, effective in 21 cases, effective in 3 cases and ineffective in 2 cases, with a total effective rate of 93.33%;In the control group of 30 cases,1case was cured,14 cases were effective,10 cases were effective,5 cases were ineffective, the total effective rate was 83.33%.The total effective rate of the observation group was better than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.01).5.Comparison of the occurrence probability of afterpain: In the observation group, there were30 cases of afterpain,2 cases of afterpain, and the incidence of PHN was 6.67%;In the control group, there were 30 cases,9 cases of afterpain, the incidence of PHN was 30.00%,the incidence of PHN in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).Conclusion:1.Root amputation therapy combined with Western medicine and Western medicine alone is effective in the treatment of acute stage herpes zoster, which can promote herpes recovery, analgesia and improve clinical symptoms.2.Root amputation therapy combined with Western medicine was significantly superior to the Western medicine group in reducing the time required for scab formation and scab removal, rapidly reducing the pain in the affected area and the comprehensive efficacy.3.Early application of root amputation therapy combined with western medicine in the treatment of herpes zoster can reduce the incidence of residual pain.4.The early application of root amputation therapy combined with conventional western medicine has more advantages in the treatment of herpes zoster than conventional western medicine alone, which is safe, convenient, reliable and can be promoted clinically.
