Science and technology have gained strong momentum since the 21st century, especially in the fields of big data, new technology, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and so on.Artificial intelligence,as one of the most important disciplinary fields of technology, has seen remarkable and rapid development in recent years, shaping how people think and work to a great extent. In the meantime,English texts about artificial intelligence have cropped up,which can be taken as great references for people’s learning and understanding of AI.This translation practice is English into Chinese translation and the original text is excerpted from this book--Artificial Intelligence Theory,Models, and Applications, which was published by P.Kaliraj and T.Devi in 2021.The translator chooses Chapter 1,Chapter 2,and Chapter 3 of this book as the material for translation, which involve several cutting-edge AI technologies and their applications in kinds of fields. The original text is the English for Science and Technology(EST),while it is typically an informative text and serves to deliver the information, characterized by rigorous diction, standard writing, logical clarity, and objective expression. One of the features of the EST is the considerable use of technical terminologies and long sentences. In this report, under the guidance of the Text Typology Theory put forward by German functionalist Katharina Reiss, the translator elaborates on the lexical, syntactical, and textual levels to explore the translation methods and strategies that can be applied in that kind of translation practice. This translation practice helps the translator gain better insights into how to translate such informative texts in the field of Artificial Intelligence and accumulate more translation skills.Meanwhile, this translation practice is a good opportunity to put Reiss’s Text Typology into practice, which is also conducive to improving the comprehensive practical ability. It is expected that the solutions and strategies proposed in this report can provide a reference for the translation of texts of the same type in the future.
