Edouard Vuillard,Edouard Vuillard(1868-1940),an interior scene painter,was one of the important members of the French Nabi School.His paintings are purely subjective decoration and composition arrangement,which continues the impressionist’s description of reality and no longer takes the central perspective as the primary consideration.The theme of the works is mainly about characters and life scenes,and the choice of characters is especially for relatives and friends around them,including many female images,and there are many works depicting the painter’s mother.In color selection,strong and individual colors combined with interspersed strokes are used to record all kinds of characters and every moment in their lives,especially in the picture,a large area of gray color is mixed with a small amount of colors with high purity and lightness to achieve a natural and comfortable atmosphere.Carefully adjust the position of large color blocks in composition design,giving people a clean and interesting experience.The research highlight of this paper is from the perspective of the theoretical knowledge of plane composition and color composition,especially noting that there are many ways to express the spatial juxtaposition of color points in Vial’s paintings,so Vial’s works are further analyzed.From superficial appreciation to trying to go deep into the painter’s own feelings,this paper discusses the deep personal feelings,ideals and demands contained in his works,so as to better appreciate the formal beauty of his paintings.In the research,Vial’s works are taken as the research object,and the research methods such as literature research,combination of pictures and texts,analysis and comparison are combined,and the study of his paintings is introduced into his own painting exploration,so as to record his personal creative learning process and reflect on his learning experience and painting gains.The chapter content of this paper is divided into four parts: firstly,in the first chapter,the formation of composition style in Vial’s paintings is mainly analyzed.In the first section,the word "composition" is introduced,the concept of composition is put forward,and how to appreciate painting from the perspective of composition is expounded;The second section briefly summarizes the factors influencing the formation of Vial’s painting style from two aspects: "external factors-times and painting friends" and "internal factors-interpretation of maternal love".Secondly,in the second chapter,Vial’s works are analyzed from the perspective of composition in five sections,which are: the psychology of tone and color in the picture,the generalization and planarization of color blocks,the surface of points and the spatial mixing of colors,the position and area proportion of color scales,and the purity and contrast of colors.Then,in the third chapter,it rises to appreciate the formal beauty of Vial’s works,which is subdivided into three aspects: sense of form,sense of order and sense of decoration.The fourth chapter,as the concluding chapter,talks about the inspiration brought by the study of Vial’s works to the author’s creation,and records the learning experience and creation process,which is presented as a sequential record of three steps: "the choice of theme-the use of screen form language-the harvest and reflection of creation".At the end of the article,based on the analysis and study,the conclusion of this article is drawn: On the one hand,Vial,as the spokesman of Nabi Painting School,as the leader of gray tones that has influenced generation after generation,has provided perfect model styles for later learners in the composition and color setting of his works,and the corresponding knowledge of various compositions in his works is also excellent material for our study.On the other hand,the process of painting creation covers the painter’s painstaking efforts and embodies the understanding of art,which requires every painter’s serious treatment,continuous learning and all-out efforts. |
