| Zhang Ruzhao is not only an outstanding master,but also a poet with distinct personality.In the collision between Chinese and Western cultures,she changed from a gifted females to a social activist actively participating in the patriotic movement,gradually developed into a lay Buddhist with feelings of helping the world,and finally became a female monk poet with enlightenment consciousness in modern times.Based on the comprehensive investigation of Zhang Ruzhao’s life experience,this paper analyzes Zhang Ruzhao’s thoughts in combination with the specific background of the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China.On this basis,the author focuses on the in-depth study of his poems,classifies the themes of Ruzhao’s poems,and analyzes its unique artistic characteristics.The article specifically discusses from three parts.The first chapter mainly introduces Zhang Ruzhao’s life course and thought implication.Her life can be divided into four stages: life in her hometown,study in Shanghai,job hunting experience and convert to Buddhism.In her early life in her hometown,she received a traditional boudoir education,learning Confucian patriotic thoughts.After studying in Shanghai,she was influenced by advanced western science,system,ideology and culture,and had a negative attitude towards the traditional Confucian "Three Principles" thought.She actively participated in the patriotic movement and turned to religion to seek salvation.After completing the historical task of saving the nation and survival,he sought the value and significance of individual life existence from Buddhism.The second chapter discusses particularly the classification of subject matter of poems.In this chapter,his poems are divided into four categories,the poems that express feelings directly,the poems sending and answering the feelings deeply,the poems of fresh and natural travel,and the poems of Buddha.To express her concern about the fate of the country and the people from the perspective of women,she expressed her concern about the state of affairs and the ideological connotation of women’s situation.The poems of the second kind mainly express the poet’s missing for his relatives when he lived alone in a foreign land,his feeling of reporting to his classmates and teachers when studying abroad,and his devotion to studying Buddhism after focusing on Buddhism.The poetry of the third kind expresses his love for the natural landscape and the sustenance of his Buddhist thoughts.The poetry of the third kind not only showed her attitude of seeking salvation and relief from the Buddhist classics,but also in the end,she expressed her willingness to practice Buddhism and determined that the publicity of Buddhism would be her future ideal.The third chapter specifically analyzes the artistic features of Zhang Ruzhao’s poems,which are mainly embodied in three aspects: solemn style,elegant style and free and ethereal artistic conception.In her early poems,she chose the allusions of the well-known heroes in ancient China into her poems,which not only gives the poem a sense of grandeur,but also makes the poems show the characteristics of simplicity and simplicity.At the same time,using of line drawing to outline the natural landscape,presenting a kind of beautiful and peaceful artistic conception.After deeply studying the doctrines of the Pure Land Sect of Buddhism,Tiantai Sect and and other Buddhist schools,she took the simple and profound characteristics of Buddhist language into account,which contains rich meaning,so she integrated Buddhist doctrines into her poems to create an ethereal artistic realm. |
