The Research On The Huangming Anthology

This thesis takes the Huangming Anthology(皇明诗选)as the study subject.It starts from elaborating the construction and the editions depended on approaches of philology.According to the method of“understanding the authors by investigating the period in which they lived”,the paper intends to explore the social relations and life experience of the three editors,which are Chen Zilong,Li Wen,Song Zhengyu,also name as Yunjian Trio(云间三子).In the aspect of poetry theory,it also classifies the criticism in the anthology by ways of textual analysis,combining with their other works,so that it can analyze the system of poetics and promote the existing research.This dissertation consists of several parts.The introduction part mainly reviews the previous research of the Huangming Anthology and the Yunjian Trio,expounding the research significance and the basic research methods which has been used.The first chapter makes a brief introduction for Huangming Anthology.From the perspective of geographic factor,social and cultural background,it reveals the compilation purpose of the book.In the meantime,by researching the versions,Bibliographic Description and various editions,focusing on revising the mistakes in the book,it provide further information for classical philology.The second chapter based on two aspects,which are the status of the Yunjian Trio and the reception by the latter poets in the Qing Dynasty.It not only clarifies the specific time they formed a friendship,but also discuss the positive influence on literary school in the early Qing Dynasty.The third chapter is the specialized subject for the poetics theoretical system.By means of close reading,this part extracts the mutual poetic views from the foreword,the General Notices and the reviews,which are learning from the ancient sages,worship of the Tang dynasty,concern about the reality,and emphasis on the poetic form.The forth chapter aims at analyzing the literature status in the Qing Dynasty.The imitation of format and content by other anthologies,as well as the references to the views used in Si Ku Quan Shu,give us a sign that the book has got recognition for its literary criticism.The last part is the conclusion,which summarizes the comments from the critics in the Qing Dynasty.It proved that while the Huangming Anthology was born with some defects,like partisan and inappropriate views,it does own a significant value in the eye of later poets.
